He is officially off of the ECMO!!!! Sullivan was successfully weaned very early this morning and the surgeons removed his cannulas today at about 1130am! Stephanie said the nurses even saw him even open his eyes this morning!!! We are all so thankful and proud! Even if it was cloudy and raining today . . . it would be the most beautiful to me.
I know we are all excited for surgery, however no surgery dates yet. I think Dr. Turrentine wants him off the ECMO and stable for atleast 48hrs. And still, that does not mean he will have surgery on Friday . . . it could be awhile just depending on how "things" go. This does not shadow my pure joy for how well he handled his transition from ECMO. We have a true champion on our hands! I cannot wait to get his autograph! :0)
